Danger vs. Opportunity (Tom Rutter)

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross!
Philippians 2:6-8
During lock down I have read that the word 'crisis' in Chinese is made up of two characters...the first means danger, but the second means opportunity!
I love this paradox that both these words create, they bring to mind the wonderful words of Philippians reminding us that Jesus leaves the comfort and security of heaven to risk the offer of relationship with us in our broken world...
Prayer – Dear Lord Jesus, help me to pause and take a moment to be still, may it re-centre my scattered senses upon your presence and bring a fresh opportunity to meet you today. Will you protect me from any danger that may lay ahead this day, and give me the courage to see every opportunity which I can take hold of and grasp today. Amen

    Crisis and opportunity. Love that ❣We have a counter cultural faith that demands surrender, dependence, obedience and weakness, promising strength and equipping in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding Proverbs 3:5 This Proverb is so full of rich wisdom and instruction and I’d recommend reading all of it! I chose this verse today, because I think even if we read it every day, we would still struggle to fully put it into practise. Being told to trust, saying you trust or knowing you should trust are all very different from actually trusting. I had a wonderful moment recently whilst brushing my teeth which may encourage you! My mind was battling with worries and concerns. My thoughts were whirling, my shoulders were tense, and I was beginning to hold my breath when the words ‘trust me’ dropped straight into my spirit. I immediately relaxed into a powerful and timely knowing that I can absolutely trust in Jesus. I realise I can’t control everything or bring about all the desires of my heart, but He can.
